Why train with us

Our York club is where Battalion Martial Arts began, and it remains a core part of our organisation. Training in York focuses on HEMA and WW2 combatives taught through historically grounded methods, combining technical instruction with practical drilling and controlled sparring.

York sessions are led by experienced instructors with a strong background in both martial arts and historical research. We place a strong emphasis on correct mechanics, situational awareness, and understanding the historical context behind each technique.

If you’re looking for HEMA or WW2 combatives training in York that is serious, welcoming, and rooted in historical authenticity rather than sport or choreography, our York club offers a structured and supportive environment to develop your skills.
